Here is a beautifully restored 1950’s Gamewell LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT Call Box Telephone from Hello Central Antique Telephone Company. This is NOT a replica Call Box. However, professionally manufactured name plates were used to complete the Sheriff’s Department Call Box. The Call Box was made by the Gamewell Company and made of cast aluminum (herculite) with engraved metal identification plates. The Gamewell Call Box, Telephone and Top Light Assembly have a powder coated (baked on enamel) “Green” Finish with professional hand painted “Gold” lettering. County Sheriff’s Department Call Box is a 1930-40’s Western Electric Model 211 Telephone that has been converted for use on today’s telephone system. The Call Box Telephone also features a working Top Light Assembly with a Green Glass Globe. The top light makes a great night light for your office, game room, den or other special area. The Top Light Assembly is controlled by an “On-Off” Line Cord Switch and plugs into a regular 110 volt household electrical outlet. The Call Box Telephone has a Locking Front Door with a “Brass” Skeleton Key. This Sheriff’s Department Call Box Telephone will work fine with “regular” telephone services without a converter. County Sheriff’s Department Call Box Telephone is in absolutely beautiful restored condition. Although there is a very small amount of “age” pitting located on the call box outside right side (see pictures 6 and 12). Some Gamewell Call Boxes with Top Light Assemblies being mounted onto a “Wall” might require 3/8 – 1/2 inch thick Shims between the Back Plate and the wall. This may be required to provide a clearance between the Top Light Guard and the Wall. If necessary Flat Washes taped together around the edge work well for this purpose.
