A Report on Art and Technology Program at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art
Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, California, 1971. A large and tight square book with some light wear to the covers. Interior text and illustration pages are free of marks. In 1966 Maurice Tuchman, Senior Curator, Modern Art, Director, Art & Technology (A&T) toyed with the idea of bringing artists into major corporations to make works of art moving about in them as they might in their own studios. In late 1967 he began the process of contacting over 250 companies and eventually 37 joined the program. In April 1968 he met with his Board of Trustees with a progress report. The board sanctioned the plan of corporations having an artist in residence for up to 12 weeks. Works of art resulting from the cooperative endeavors were to be exhibited at the Museum in 1970. This incredibly complicated venture moved along quite well. Contracts with artists as well as the corporations had to be drawn up laying out the responsibilities of each participate. This book documents all of the processes leading up to the 1970 exhibition in great detail. Cover Photos (64): Robert Anderson North American Rockwell, Roy L.
