A VERY NICE SPECIMEN… A TOUGHER GHOST TOWN… ABOUT R9 IN DUNN SCHILLING HOSKINS CATALOG WHICH SHOWS “3 REPORTED” BUT THAT IS OFF, AND ALSO THIS IS WHITE METAL, NOT BRASS… THIS IS A TOUGHER TO FIND ANTIQUE TOKEN USED IN THE LIVING GHOST TOWN OF MANHATTAN…. SHOWS RARE R9 TO FIND IN ORIGINAL NEVADA BOOK WHICH ACTUALLY GAVE RARITY DATA ON EVERY LISTED TOKEN WHAT A CONCEPT, EH? WHICH SHOWS “3 REPORTED”….. BUT THIS IS ACTUALLY WHITE METAL NOT BRASS, SO THERE WAS ERROR IN LISTING, BUT A BEAUTIFUL SPECIMEN, ISSUED AROUND 1910. Old west SALOON tokens are among the most collectible today… Especially those that say the word “SALOON”… And were used in a Nevada ghost town. THEN AROUND 1905 REALLY EXPLODED AS A GOLD CAMP…. THE PEAK POPULATION HIT 4000… AND TODAY MAYBE 100 PEOPLE LIVE IN THE REGION, THUS A “LIVING GHOST TOWN”. The historic mining camp town of Manhattan is considered a “living ghost town” today with a small remnant population of 100 as compared to a peak population of 4000 in the region in its heyday…… Its an amazing place… Located not too far from Belmont, Tonopah, Gabbs, Luna and Mina Nevada. Trade token is white metal, round, about 24mm in size, and it has strong details. (please see pictures in gallery) Natural patina… Has never been cleaned.
