This is the stated first edition, published by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art & Alfred A. Knopf in 1976, of the large format app. 11″ x 8.375″ softcover, Two Centuries of Black American Art (221 numbered pages), by David C. Driskell, with catalog notes by Leonard Simon. The front cover has curl to its outer edge, shallow wear at the corners, and two line marks at the bottom edge, but no substantial stains or color fade. The attachment at the spine is secure. The back cover has a repaired tear to its upper outside edge (see photo). The inside is in very good condition. The only extraneous element is a circular blind-embossed ex libris stamp at the upper outside corner of the title page (see photo). There are no other stamps, no attachments, and no written notes. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. There are no page tears. There is shallow curl to a few end pages, at the upper outside corners, but no creases of note.
