The writing on back is the person below. Clemens, 81, a former attorney and special California prosecutor who investigated the San Diego County assessor’s office in the 1950s, died Friday of natural causes in Virginia Beach, Va. Clemens was named deputy attorney general for Los Angeles in 1953 by Atty. Pat Brown shortly after completing Loyola Law School. Three years later, Clemens was appointed special prosecutor to investigate the San Diego County agency. Although he practiced privately for four decades, Clemens often was tapped for special court-related cases. For example, he was attorney for the special master appointed to handle Los Angeles litigation concerning the Worldwide Church of God. Born in New York, Clemens attended Bluefield Junior College in Virginia on a football scholarship and the U. Naval Academy, where he played football and baseball. As an ensign and lieutenant during World War II, he taught officer candidates at Dartmouth College and served as a gunnery officer aboard two destroyers. Wounded during both his tours of sea duty, he earned a citation of the Navy and a Marine Corps medal before his discharge. Clemens served as president of the Loyola Law School Alumni Assn. A trustee of the U. Naval Academy Alumni Assn. And president and a board member of the Bel-Air Country Club. Not a digital copy. If you have any questions or other information, please let me know.
