Spitzzeri, Posted on March 24, 2020. Established by 1915 as a gentleman’s citrus ranch by George W. Chessman, whose father was a successful cattle dealer in Denver, Silver Peak, probably named for one of the peaks in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, also took on guests that winter. The facility included Chessman’s residence, which was surrounded by fifteen bungalows and cottages, each with its own bath and steam heating, radiating from the main house and accessed by walkways leading through lush gardens. A dining room with a patio and lawn served meals and there were fine views of the eastern San Gabriel Valley from the hillside hostelry. In September 1931, the Pomona Progress reported that the shuttered guest ranch was leased for three years to H. Riggs and his wife E. Lillian Curry, operator of a boarding and day school for students from kindergarten through high school and called the Silver Peak Ranch School. The situation mirrored that of the Homestead, which the prior year, was leased to a boys’ military academy. Though heavily advertised, the school did not survive beyond its lease and closed in 1934. Chessman remained in the area, living in Altadena and spending time at his Palm Springs location of Silver Peak Studios for a time in the Thirties. He died in 1947 at age 60 and is buried with his parents at Mountain View Cemetery in Altadena. This drawing can be personalized with a name, rank, years of service, or any other additional text. The “N” number, Modex and Badge number or title can also be changed. I DO NOT simply reprint your name onto an existing print. I incorporate your personalized information into the original composition, allowing me to optimize its size and location. Your print will be a unique and original composition customized exclusively to you. You are purchasing an original print of my original digital drawing. Although created entirely within the computer, my illustrations are drawings in every sense of the word. Instead of using a pen or pencil, I use a common computer mouse to drag the cursor across the computer screen in the same manner as taking pencil to paper. Every line, every shape is created by moving my mouse across my desktop in the same manner that you use your computer’s mouse at home. Every line and detail is indeed, hand drawn. And because the “original” composition exists only as digital code, it does not become an artwork until it is printed. Every print produced is therefore an original artwork. Even though each drawing is labor intensive, sometimes requiring 100+ hours to complete, I have many titles to choose from. All of my drawing are created in a vector format and can therefore be enlarged or reduced with absolutely no degradation in clarity. Each drawing is printed on heavy weight, acid free, archival quality paper stock and mailed in a sturdy mailing tube to prevent damage. All of my drawings are copyrighted and cannot be reproduced in whole or in part without my expressed written permission. Your print WILL NOT have my protected watermark on it. UPGRADE – This print can also be printed on polished metal, or on stretched and framed canvas. That being said, the good folks at the Post Office (like the rest of the world) have implemented a myriad of pandemic protocols. These, coupled with severe staff shortages, have shown deliveries that routinely used to take just days to arrive are now taking weeks. Stay safe, stay healthy.
