Azusa and Los Angeles guide sign. Up for sale today is this Azusa, Los Angeles, Claremont, San Bernardino guide sign. Made to the exact standards as used from 1929 to 1934 by the Auto Club of Southern California. This guide sign was posted in Glendora, at the junction of Foothill Boulevard (US highway 66) and Glendora Boulevard, as seen in the original image. Please see my other auctions for the cross-road sign, pointing to Glendora and Covina. The original of this guide sign, complete with the logo of the Automobile Club of Southern California, would cost many thousands of dollars – if it even survives! Only historic photos of it are known. This is a faithful remake to just over one-half the correct size in each dimension: 21 x 14 inches instead of 36 x 24. It is manufactured on heavy steel with the correct layout, fonts and colors. It weighs about 7 pounds, 8 ounces. It is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style?
