SHOWS RARE R9 TO FIND IN ORIGINAL NEVADA BOOK WHICH ACTUALLY GAVE RARITY DATA ON EVERY LISTED TOKEN WHAT A CONCEPT, EH? WHICH SHOWS “5 REPORTED”….. AND THIS IS THE BEAUTIFUL DARK “NATURAL PATINA” (UNCLEANED) SPECIMEN…. Most tokens from this region are dug and ugly. Looking up “NORTH & FERGUSON CO” in. My Nevada business directories (Polks 1906, Polks 1913, Bradstreet 1914 & Bradstreet 1919) SHOWS THAT YES… (so they were at least in business from 1906 to 1919 era that we know of). THEN AROUND 1905 REALLY EXPLODED AS A GOLD CAMP…. THE PEAK POPULATION HIT 4000… AND TODAY MAYBE 100 PEOPLE LIVE IN THE REGION, THUS A “LIVING GHOST TOWN”. And use historic data on these and the original catalog on these old tokens, I personally do not use the latest spreadsheet compilation with too many to count revisions with prices changing monthly… The original catalog actually gives rarities for each listing, and this is a rare to find MANHATTAN NEVADA token (especially in this condition), and listed in the iconic Nevada Token book by Dunn, Schilling and Hoskins as catalog Ma-6……. The historic mining camp town of Manhattan is considered a “living ghost town” today with a small remnant population of 100 as compared to a peak population of 4000 in the region in its heyday…… Its an amazing place… Located not too far from Belmont, Tonopah, Gabbs, Luna and Mina Nevada.
