Warrior Brand VINTAGE North Pomona California Orange Crate Label 1930s Authentic
This uncommon vintage 1930s Valencia orange crate label depicts a Native American warrior in ceremonial attire complete with jewelry and a feather headdress. He stands near a small group of Native Americans dancing around an outdoor fire by a teepee under a night sky. A hill with trees is in the distance under a cloud-obscured full moon. The word “Warrior” is displayed with large custom lettering across the top. The wrapped orange Sunkist logo is prominently displayed. Native Americans and scenes of Native American life were often portrayed in American art during the 1800s. Charles Bird King, George Catlin, and Karl Bodmer painted numerous realistic portraits of Native Americans in the first half of the century, which were exhibited and published in book form. Later in the century, a more stereotyped image developed, made famous by the popularity of dime novels with garish cover illustrations, and by the traveling Wild West shows of Buffalo Bill Cody. Publicity accompanying these shows usually depicted Plains Native Americans, often on horseback, wearing feathered war bonnets, beads, and colorful blankets. These stylized representations, on millions of posters and advertisements promoting the Buffalo Bill shows, served as the model for most Native Americans depicted on orange box labels. While the scenes and costumes were not especially true to life, the treatment was usually dignified, showing Native Americans in scenes ranging from mountain lakes to inhospitable deserts. The portrayal on this label is somewhat dignified, somewhat Hollywood. The printer of this label, Carton Label Corporation of Los Angeles and San Francisco, was active from 1927 through 1955. This label is vintage – not a copy and is in mint / pristine condition.

Southern California Pictorial Guide 1914 Very Rare Great Condotion for Age
This book is an incredible jump back in time to Southern California at the turn of the 20th Century. Published by the Southern California Panama Exposition to tout San Diego, and Southern California, as the initial port for the newly built Panama Canal. The Exposition was basically a’local’ version of the World’s Fair and San Diego built numerous buildings all over San Diego, but mostly in and around Balboa Park Named before the Exposition started – previously it was called’City Park’. The 261 page book covers San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles County, Riverside and San Bernadino. The binding is tight and secure with no loose pages and no markings anywhere on the book. There are hundreds of fantastic photos showing these areas before Southern California started booming. This is truly a collectors find!

Indian Belle Brand VINTAGE Porterville, California Grapefruit Crate Label 1916
This uncommon vintage 1916 stone lithograph seedless grapefruit crate label depicts a Native American warrior in ceremonial attire complete with a feather headdress. He is helping a belle (princess) down from a rocky hilltop. Behind them is an expansive Southern California orange orchard planted with neat rows of citrus trees leading off toward foothills and distant snowcapped mountains. The label is framed with a simple motif that suggests Native American art. The yellow orb variety of the Sunkist grapefruit logo is prominently displayed. Native Americans and scenes of Native American life were often portrayed in American art during the 1800s. Charles Bird King, George Catlin, and Karl Bodmer painted numerous realistic portraits of Native Americans in the first half of the century, which were exhibited and published in book form. While the scenes and costumes were not especially true to life, the treatment was usually dignified, showing Native Americans in scenes ranging from mountain lakes to inhospitable deserts. This label is vintage (intended to be pasted on a wooden crate, but never used) – not a copy, not computer-printed, and is in mint / pristine condition – remarkable for an 108-year-old label! The label is old stock, originally from a warehouse find.

Wayne Gretzky Goal #802 – Historic 14×22 for original newspaper publication RARE. This piece of history was used to publish the original illustration in the Orange County Register when Wayne Gretzky scored his milestone 802nd career goal in 1994. The painting was done by renowned artist Craig Pursley and this 14×22 “color key” was used to help print the illustration on the cover of the special tribute edition honoring Gretzky. This item has been laminated to protect its integrity. In newspaper terminology, this is what was known as a color key, produced by the color lab at the newspaper prior to official publication. According to the artist, there are fewer than 6 of these in existence so it has significant value. Be sure to add this RARE piece to your Wayne Gretzky collection today!
