From a Green Valley, Arizona collector’s estate. An Archaeological Report on the Excavation of a Prehistoric Site at Zuma Creek, Los Angeles County, California. Archaeological Survey Assciation of Southern California, 1955. Includes maps and charts and b&w photographs of stone and lithic artifacts. Condition: Light wear to covers. The majority of tourists and residents walking along Zuma Beach and the trails of Point Dume State Beach are unaware that before the Spanish arrived in the 16th century all of this region was the home of the Ventureño band of the Chumash peoples. A common explanation of the name “Malibu” is that it is derived from the Chumash word”Humaliwo” which means “the surf sounds loudly”. ULTRARARE – 1984 MAX BECKMANN EXHIBITION POSTER – “DANCE IN BADEN” 1923. Be proud to add this piece of history to your collection. This original lithograph print was the original poster created to commemorate the Max Beckmann Retrospective Exhibit held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from Dec1984 – Feb 1985. It was designed by Chermayeff & Geismar Associates – creators of many legendary & iconic works. It features his original “Dance in Baden, Baden” which he created in1923 (Oil on Canvas). Beckmann was a leading Modernist painter, printmaker, draftsman, and writer. This piece shows some wear and creases, typical of a vintage piece of this age.

Charles Abersold 10 Cents In Trade California History Rare Token

Well known for his connection with the business interests of the town of Mossdale, San Joaquin County, Charles Abersold is the proprietor and half owner of a store and garage, located on the Lincoln Highway, which has proven a most successful venture, for he operates a lunch room in connection with his store; also the long distance telephone station. Mauro, is in charge of the garage, while Charles Abersold looks after the store and lunch room. He was born near Beach City, Ohio, March 27, 1875, and received a good grammar school education. After leaving school he worked for the Eagle Machine Shop at Bucyrus, Ohio, and later was employed in the railroad shops in the same city. In November, 1904, Mr. Abersold came to California, direct to Lathrop, where his brother, C. Abersold, whose sketch also appears in this work, had settled ten years previous. Abersold first engaged in the hotel business at Lathrop and Charles worked in his employ there as a clerk for five years. Mauro, established his present business, which has been a success financially and a boon to the travelers on the highway. Abersold is a Republican and he is the owner of considerable stock in the Coast Tire and Rubber Company of Oakland.
