1963 Original Vintage American Poster MARILYN MONROE
1963 Original Vintage American Poster “MARILYN MONROE”. Size: 26 ½ x 39 inches (69 x 104 cm). This is the original American poster for the 20th Century Fox documentary on Marilyn Monroe. Directed by Henry Koster in 1963, the film features Rock Hudson narrating a compilation of clips from Marilyn’s most celebrated movies. The documentary traces her early studio beginnings to her final screen moments in the unfinished “Something’s Got To Give”. In 1926 a girl was born in the charity ward at the Los Angeles County Hospital who would become one of the most celebrated and enduring icons of all time – Marilyn Monroe. Norma Jeane Mortenson’s childhood was volatile as she was passed from family members to family friends and frequently stayed in orphanages because of her mother’s mental health. To avoid another orphanage stay a family friend orchestrated a marriage proposal when she was sixteen years old. When her husband was sent to the Pacific with the merchant marine, Norma Jeane began working on an assembly line at an aeronautical plant. In 1945 a photographer took a snapshot of the stunning brunette while at the factory and within months she became a successful model securing dozens of magazine covers and a screen test with 20th Century Fox. Studio executives, directors and photographers immediately recognized her ability to capture and hold the attention of anyone on the opposite end of a camera lens. By the end of 1946 her hair had become a platinum shade of blonde and her name was changed to Marilyn Monroe. This poster is in good condition with minor traces of restauration and former folds.

Vintage rare and original 1968-69 Masonite Biohazard sign. This came from the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiners office. I acquired it from a good friend who retired from there after many years as a forensic pathologist. This was at the entrance to his lab before they replaced with new signs in the early 80’s. It measures 18″ x 12″. The back has some discoloring and has a waffled texture. There are a few small age spots on the front where the Masonite has become warped (see pictures). Sign lays flat and doesn’t have any cracks or breaks. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you for looking at my item.

1901″MIDWAY OIL FIELD” ORIGINAL MAP KERN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA. (Compilers) Title: 1901″MIDWAY OIL FIELD” ORIGINAL MAP KERN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA. LINEN-BACKED Publication: Los Angeles: Oil Maps and Prospectus, 1901. Description: This is an ORIGINAL MAP, 1901, of the MIDWAY OIL FIELD, Kern County, California. It has been expertly LINEN-BACKED. Compiled from public records and private surveys by E. Image approximately 33 1/4″ x 32″ with a small linen border. The Midway Oil Field (Now, Midway-Sunset Oil Field) was discovered in Kern County in 1894. This map predates the establishment of Taft, California. It is the largest oil field in California. It has produced over 3 billion barrels of oil to date, with substantial reserves still in the ground. This map shows that, as of 1901, relatively few wells had been drilled. It was not until 1909 that the first gusher (oil blown over the derrick top) came in to Midway Field Well 2-6. Subject: All Things Californian, Maps, Mining & Oil, Miscellany, Southern California.
